– Crash the Chatterbox – Steven Furtick –

I had previously read Steven Furtick’s Sun Stand Still and Greater, and while I thought they were fine, neither held a candle to his newest book, Crash the Chatterbox.

Furtick’s book delves into combating the lies and negative chatter that every human being battles on a daily basis (whether that be condemnation, fear, insecurity, discouragement, etc) and replacing those lies with a Truth from Scripture. The book is broken up into four sections: God says I am, God says He will, God says He has, and God says I can.

Furtick’s writing is funny and engaging, but also both convicting and encouraging. One thing I appreciate about his writing style is his tendency to focus on Scripture, with his own story “in the background.” For example, Crash the Chatterbox follows the story of Elijah from 1 Kings. Much of the truth he writes about comes straight from Scripture itself, and then he throws in a few examples from his own life to further demonstrate his points; rather than mainly focusing on his own story and throwing in a few verses from Scripture to back it up.

I will be recommending this book to others; as I believe this is a subject that most anyone could benefit from.

I received this book for free from Blogging for Books in exchange for my honest opinion.
